And if you’ve visited 85bits’ educational services, you’ve seen us talk about Obukas, and perhaps you’ve wondered what that is. If you’re a little curious and have some time left, you Googled it to search for the term (as happened to a friend we were talking about).
But if you didn’t have the time to do the search, we want to tell you what an Obuka is and why we’re talking about it at 85bits.
Since we began considering the aspects that 85bits’ educational programs should meet, we believed that, on the one hand, they should have flexible components tailored to the learning needs and interests of our enthusiasts, but also that they should have rigorous components that allow learners to pay due attention to their process and meet the mutually agreed-upon learning objectives.
At 85bits, we won’t force you to learn what you don’t want or need, but we will challenge you to make your learning process enriching.
So, in that brainstorming process about how to build our programs based on what we’re teaching you, we came up with the following:
Mentoring and training-based training with high levels of demand to achieve learning objectives
The term obuka is Croatian and refers to training or coaching; although it also has this reference in Bosnian. But we don’t just use it because it’s cool to use terminology from another language; rather, the term is also used as a first and last name in some countries, mainly in Asia and Africa, and some of its connotations align with the essence of what we look for in our programs and their fans.
The essence of the name Obuka represents versatility, enthusiasm, agility and unconventional methods

It relates to a self-taught, curious, creative, and exploratory personality (someone who does not enjoy monotony and dependence), who understands the importance of listening to others while maintaining diplomacy and respect, and has a strong sense of responsibility.
Thus, the obukas of 85bits go beyond traditional security training schemes by considering the following components:
- Continuous support through mentoring arrangements. Exactly, it’s not just about having a teacher or coach available, but about a mentor who, beyond wanting to transmit experience and knowledge, seeks to contribute to the comprehensive development of our enthusiasts.
- Versatile, practical, and precise study material that remains focused on the depth of thematic review. Suitable for both individual and group work.
- And in the new world of home office and beyond, which has gained so much strength, virtual practices and accessibility to resources and people “from the comfort of home” are considered. The difference is that these are telepresent sessions — not only access to material and occasional consultations but synchronous sessions that allow activities to be carried out and doubts to be resolved live.
Thank you for reaching this point and taking the time to learn about this term and its purpose for us. We hope to have encouraged you to explore a little more about how we develop it within our lines of study and research. So, feel free to ask questions! 😉
Until next time.
